Another proprietary red wine, in this case a blend of 55% Petit Verdot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, is the 2013 Two Dog Knoll, which comes from the Oakville site. Normally with this much Petit Verdot, I would be worried about rustic tannins, but Bevan has handled it brilliantly. Inky bluish/purple, with notes of blueberry liqueur, brioche, acacia flowers, steak tartare as well as roasted meats and herbs, this is a wine of great intensity. Singular and distinct, it should drink well for 20-25 years as well.
“Russell Bevan is one of the more outspoken producers in the Napa Valley, and so are his wines. These sumptuous, beautifully textured reds are full of personality. Made to be accessible right upon release, the Bevan wines are rich, intense, and hugely delicious.”

Since their first vintage in 2005, Russell Bevan and Victoria de Crescenzo have made sure that the focus of Bevan Cellars is on the vineyards that they source their fruit from. The couple owns a 2-acre vineyard in Bennett Valley as well as procures grapes from Showket, Sugarloaf, Kick Ranch and other vineyards in the Napa and Sonoma counties. In regards to the winemaking approach, Bevan Cellars centers themselves on managing tannins, which results in wines that are decadent yet polished and perfect for your cellar.
