For our next list in the Verticals series, we’re venturing outside the comfort zone and looking at some regions that don't get as much love as the areas we frequently highlight.
Most or all the same tenets apply: Verticals need not be consecutive vintages. Some collectors like to skip certain vintages. Others will prefer to accumulate complete sets of vintages, regardless of the reported vintage quality, etc., etc. – you probably saw this all in the previous offers. The idea of Now and Then is still valid – you can drink some of these wines right now while others just beg you to lay them down for the future.
This time, however, we’re looking beyond the safe havens of Bordeaux, Burgundy, and California Blue-Chip wines to places more exotic. How about crazy-large verticals of Chave Hermitage or Jaboulet Hermitage La Chappelle from the Northern Rhone Valley? Chateau de Pegau from the Southern Rhone? Tua Rita Redigaffi and Bartolo Mascarello Barolo from Tuscany and Piedmont, respectively? Dominio de Pingus, Clos Erasmus, or Fonseca Vintage Port from various spots on the Iberian Peninsula? Krug Vintage, Bollinger R.D., and Philipponnat Clos des Goisses to represent Champagne?
Find all of these rare exotics and more listed here, each of which features five vintages or more!
While this completes our offers of European verticals, there will be one more list in this series representing similar exotics from throughout the remainder of the world. Explore our range of these spectacular wines and select a vertical or two for addition to your cellar today!
